Privacy
We collect as little as we can. This page says what that means, in ordinary words.
Who we are
The Five-Minute AI operates this briefing. For this notice, "we" means that briefing. Contact: thefiveminuteai@gmail.com.
A small business in Australia may be exempt from parts of the Privacy Act 1988. We still aim to follow the Australian Privacy Principles as good practice, including openness, using data only for the reason we collected it, and keeping it reasonably secure. A lawyer should confirm how the Act applies once the business is trading.
What we collect
- The email address you type into the signup form.
- The time you signed up, which our email service stores with your consent.
- A referral code, only if you choose to type one.
- Messages you send to thefiveminuteai@gmail.com or advertise@thefiveminuteai.com.
- Basic connection logs that the host, Cloudflare, keeps to run and protect the site.
We do not ask for your name to join the list. We do not ask for a password. The signup form has a hidden field that people are not meant to fill. It is there to catch automated signups. Please leave it blank.
Please sign up with your own email. If a briefing arrives and you did not ask for it, use the unsubscribe link. That request is enough.
Why
We use your email to send the daily briefing you asked for, and the occasional note that is part of running that list, such as a confirm-your-address email. Signing up is your consent. The form says who the email is from, how often it comes, and that you can unsubscribe in one click.
That consent is the basis we rely on under the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). We do not buy address lists. We do not add you because someone else suggested your name, unless you sign up yourself.
Who else sees it
Beehiiv sends the email and stores the list. Beehiiv is a company in the United States. Your email address may be processed there. Their privacy notice is at beehiiv.com/privacy. We use beehiiv because it provides the list, the send, and a one-click unsubscribe.
Cloudflare hosts the website. If Cloudflare Web Analytics is switched on, it counts page views without cookies and without building an advertising profile of you. Until a token is added in the site settings, that script is not loaded.
We do not sell email addresses. A sponsor does not receive the list. If we ever use another helper to run the list, we will say so here before we do.
Sponsors and analytics
The briefing is free because a sponsor may pay for a labelled slot. The label is the word Sponsored. Sponsored content is not a reason for us to share who you are.
If the beehiiv referral program is on, a code can record that a new reader arrived through a friend's link. We do not show your email address to that friend.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe in one click from any email. You do not need an account. We aim to stop immediately, and in any case within 5 business days, which is the Spam Act limit.
- Ask what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing thefiveminuteai@gmail.com.
- Ask us to delete your address. Unsubscribing stops the mail. Deleting removes the address from the list where the email tool allows it.
The briefing is written for adults. Please do not sign up a child.
This website is meant to be readable without an account. It does not use a cookie banner because the analytics tool we plan to use does not use advertising cookies. If that changes, we will say so here and ask where the law requires it.

If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, if you are on the list, mention it in the briefing. The version on this page is the current draft.
